A large, old, 19th century mill, now a residence for entertainers, 70 minutes from Paris on the outskirts of the Champagne region.
On the outskirts of the Champagne region, a short distance from a small picturesque town, less than 30 minutes from the large, neighbouring towns and a little over an hour from Paris. This undulating region, covered with woods and vines, is dotted with miscellaneous architectural features, including wayside crosses and wash-houses as well as an emblematic chateau.
In the 19th century, the abundant flow of the small stream aided the development of a local milling industry. This flourmill, long a family business handed down from father to son, was particularly productive until the 1980s. Closed during said decade, this astonishing building is the last one remaining on this site today.
Made of concrete and brick, it stands on a bend on the outskirts of a small town, surrounded but by countryside. The year 1920 is engraved on the upper section of the facade, together with the words Moulin Canard. The roof consists of a set of solid terraces. In the 1990s, a Parisian theatre company moved into this building, with its vast dimensions and its numerous glazed openings, so that its members could continue their artistic project based on creation in a rural setting.

The millThe main building of the flourmill is flanked, on the left-hand side, by the old abandoned house, once used by the workers and, on the right-hand side, by the large house that belonged to the owners. An original Art-Deco style bas-relief symbolising the millers trade is sculpted above the entrance door.
The mill itself is divided into several large areas, one neglected section of which, spanning more than 1,000 m², is used as a warehouse. The central section houses the associations artistic premises. Renovated and converted over several levels, it comprises miscellaneous workshops, offices, studios as well as bathroom and toilet facilities over a total surface area of almost 500 m².
Above is a large, partially converted flat which precedes a vast room solidly structured by concrete pillars and spanning a floor surface area of more than 270 m².
The large house that belonged to the owners, on the right-hand side of the building, is a spacious, comfortable residence, spanning a floor surface area of more than 320 m², complete with a rear terrace. Other terraces are laid out on the roofs.
A modest garden, spanning a little over 1,800 m², stretches out at the base of the building.
